I know there will be many golf destinations that I can blog about but I can’t go past the opportunity I was given to travel with 11 women to Ireland on a Ladies only golf trip. My beautiful friend Hazel Thompson, who I’ve been lucky to meet through Kingston Heath Golf Club got the ball rolling.
In August 2016 I headed off on a trip of a lifetime with my very good friend Trudy, we started our adventure in County Cork, Ireland and rented a car. Our first stop Old Head of Kinsale. Occupying a stunning and unique headland reaching out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean, the Old Head of Kinsale is home to the most spectacular world-class golf course. Located in County Cork on the South West Coast of Ireland, as the incredible brainchild of the late John O’Connor together with his brother Patrick, the Club has developed into one of the most recognised and sought after golf experiences anywhere on earth.
We had plans of meeting up with the Ladies on our tour a few days after in Dublin, so before heading back we set our sights on Waterville Golf Club home to the famous Payne Stewart. If you ever get there please do yourselves a favour and stay at the Waterville House which is linked to part the golf club. So much history and the beautiful Marion and staff were so welcoming and friendly.
You may be interested in joining one of these tours with a friend or on your own but I can’t recommend it highly enough. It was such a fantastic trip, I had never been to Ireland before and can’t wait to go back.
